Brazilian jazz great Nilson Matta wowed a sold out audience at Maverick Concerts last night. Accompanied by Dario Eskenasi on piano, Jorge Continentino on saxophone and flute and Marcello Pelliterri on drums, Matta’s incomparable bass, with a side trip nod to Charlie Mingus, was a tour of Brazilian music from the early 1900s to present day.
